She is ( a poem about being a woman in a patriarchal society )

OCTAVIA EVER AFTER

--

She walks with her head held high

In a world that tells her to sigh

A society built on patriarchal lies

Where a woman’s worth is measured by size

She fights for her right to be heard

But her voice is often blurred

By the men who hold the power

In this world, she must cower

She’s told to smile and look pretty

But her ambition, they seek to belittle

She’s judged for her clothes and her grace

But her intelligence, they try to replace

She’s told she can’t lead or be strong

But she knows she belongs

She breaks through the barriers and the hate

To claim her rightful place

She knows the fight is never done

But she’ll keep pushing till the battle is won

For a woman’s worth is not just in her looks

But in her courage, in her books.

She will not be silenced, or put down

She’ll rise up and wear her crown

She’ll pave the way for generations to come

In a society, where equal is the norm.
